Summer Fun!

I love summer!! The days are longer and there are so many fun things to do! Last weekend was our first camping trip of the year, it was so nice to go up to the mountains and get away from every day living! I love love being in the mountains and most of all being with family! Ever since I was a baby we've gone camping with my moms side of the family up to a place called Blackhawk in Payson Canyon. I never get sick of going there its like our little slice of heaven on earth, its so beautiful!

Kicking off the Summer fun!!

I love the Orem Summer Fest!! First of all the parade is in the evening so no hot sun beating down on you the whole time, second of all I love carnivals and carnival food and most of all I love meeting up with old friends and seeing their kids! Every year since I can remember we've sat in the same area with the same people for the Orem parade! Its a great way to kick off the summer. Ana is at a fun age for parades, she seem to really enjoy the floats and horses and all the fun things in the parade! Then when it came time for the fireworks, I was afraid she might be scared of them, but she loved it, she was so amazed at them, it was so fun to watch her cute little face. Ana seems to have a good time hanging out with her cousins, as you can see in the pictures!

Ana is practicing her karate with her cousin Toa!!

OH HAPPY DAY!!!

Finally after 9 months of potty training Anatoniga is fully trained!! It has been a long struggle but she is finally making kaka's in the toilet at her own free will!! She caught on just fine going pee but getting her to go poo has been a nightmare, we've struggled and struggled but now we are singing HALLELUJAH and sighing a big sign of relief! Its funny how overjoyed I am that my daughter is finally pooping the toilet!!

A Late Fathers Day post..

This is a very late post and I really wanted to do a post for Fathers Day but we had a busy weekend! I just wanted to express my love and appreciation to Jethro for being a wonderful husband and most of all a wonderful father!! He is a big kid at heart and loves to play with Ana and all his nephews and nieces!! We had a bbq last wednesday and Jethro played with the kids most of the time, I know they love him and have so much fun with him. I'm so grateful to have married a man who hasn't forgotten how to be a kid!! Not only is Jethro so much fun but he is a hard worker and does his best to provide for his family! One of the things I really love and appreciate about Jethro and sometimes I poke fun of, but I truely am grateful for his awareness of things going on around us. He is always making sure we are safe whether at home or in public, Jethro is prepared to protect his family and I truely am so grateful for that. When I'm out alone in public or even at home his "training" has rubbed off on me I always make sure I look people in the eye and keep eyes on whats going on around me!! This may sound like a weird thing to be grateful for but like many of you I'm sure it would break my heart if anything were to happen to my family! ANYWAY there are many wonderful things about my husband that I could go on and on but those are the things that are on my mind today and I wanted to share!!!

This is my dad on Fathers Day enjoying a nice sunday nap!!
I also want to express my love and appreciation to my dad as well!! My dad is my hero, he does anything and everything for his famly! There have been many a times he has come to my rescue! From car accidents and locking keys in my car at 2AM with the car running in the freezing winter, he is always there and helping me out of my stupidity!! My dad is a great example of a hard worker and its funny the things he use to do that bugged me as a kid I now do to Jethro and Ana and as our family grows I know I'll continue to do it. One of the things my dad always says that I use to hate is "If you see a job that needs to be done, DO IT!" now I say that to Jethro when he complains how messy the house is LOL and I know I'll continue to use it when we have teenagers!! Also I use to hate it when my dad would come in my room on saturday mornings and open my blinds and sing "LAAZZYY bones, sleep'n in the sun, when you gonna get your days work done" I sing that to Jethro too hahaha when he sleeps in on the weekends! I love my dad so much and am so grateful to be his daughter, I'm grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with such wonerful men in my life, I couldn't have asked for a better father and a better father for my children!!

Love Thy Neighbor

If you haven't seen or heard of this video let me introduce it to you. This happened in Conn. an older man was crossing the road and was struck by a car, not one witness to the accident did anything, its absolutely sickening to watch in the way that he lays there while cars continue to drive on and on lookers look and walk away. The report said no one reported it to the police but that the police just happened to be in the area. I don't how much of that is true but just watching that no one rushed to his aide makes me believe it.

This just floored me when I first saw it on the news last night! I couldn't believe no one rushed out there to help him. I can't believe the heartlessness of the people that day, what was so important to them that they couldn't delay what they were doing to help this poor man!

I remember a year and a half ago on a cold and rainy night in November I was coming to a four way stop and I noticed an older man crossing the street he had a cane and I remember thinking "Its so dark, I hope people can see him crossing" just as I thought that and was pulling up to the stop sign an SUV turning left hit this poor man. The image of him being hit will never leave me, it was like watching a rag doll flying through the air. Of course the lady that hit him got out along with many other people who witnessed the accident. I was alone in the car with Ana asleep in the back and because there was already a lot of people to his aide I didn't get out, but it happened right in front of me so I sat there in the car with my head lights on them until the ambulance came then I moved out of the way. It was so sad to see, but so many people came out to help it was cold and raining the people helping him covered him with a jacket and someone came out with their umbrella to keep the rain off him. It warms my heart to think of all the people who help this man and how fast they stopped to help.

There have been countless times when I've been out and about and been on the receiving end of kindness from a stranger and I too try to return the favor when I see an opportunity. It's been from holding the door for a mother with a stroller or helping someone load their heavy purchase from Costco into their car. The other day I was dragging an exercise glider into my storage unit, it wasn't heavy but it was big and awkward that the person passing by could see me struggling and stopped and helped me. I'm so thankful for the kindness of strangers and most especially friends and family. We can't go around this world so absorbed in ourselves that we don't see the needs of those around us. Thank you to all of you who have taken time out in your day to help someone in need and keep up the good work. As the prophet-king Benjamin taught, “When we are in the service of our fellow beings we are only in the service of our God”
